“Be Happy, Don’t Fear!” – Shaykh Mehmet Adil ar-Rabbani

April  4, 2020 – After morning prayer at Akbaba Dergah, Istanbul, Shaykh Mehmet Adil Ar-Rabbani gave the following  advice.

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
“فاستبشروا ببيعكم”
“Fastabshirū bi-bay‘ikum” – Qur’ān 9:111
“So rejoice in your transaction (bay‘)”

Allah tells us to give glad tidings always. He says, “Give glad tidings.” When our lives are successful in earning the pleasure of Allah, this is the greatest of glad tidings!

This is unlike anything else. It is nothing like the deceiving ornaments of this world.

This is the truth. Believing in Allah is the greatest glad tiding for you. Insha’Allah, after we pass successfully all these tests in this world, we will receive the rewards, insha’Allah.

Already this month is the month of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), the month of Sha’ban. This is the month that will dismiss the sufferings.

After a few days, it will be Baraat Night, the 15th of Sha’ban. Then by Allah’s will, it all will be lighter. We will pass this test that has been ordained for us.

Most people will receive it not as a sign of punishment but as a test. Allah has shown His mighty power. Those who have realized this have acknowledged his power, and those who have not realized it are still suffering in vain, have felt fear, have suffered and will suffer more.

So a mu’min (believer) should not be afraid. All is from Allah!

Allah does not let anything continue forever. Everything has its certain and appointed time. Once that time passes, it is over. Insha’Allah, this is going to strengthen our faith.

You may think it is bad, however there must be a great good in it.

Many people who forgot Allah, or who did not recognize Him, (begin to) beg Allah during a calamity. This is what people do during hardship, so sometimes hardship is useful for people!

It reminds them about that we are not here for this world’s purposes. No world remains today. What is going to happen next, they do not know that either. Not knowing what is going to happen is also something that comes from not having faith.

Allah is ar-Razzaq (the One providing) and al Kareem (the One who is generous). If you have an allotted provision, you will receive it. If you do not have an allotted provision, you will go on to Next Life. This is why there is no need to think too much about it.

(You should ask) what your faith is like, and commit yourself to worship during these holy three months (Rajab, Shaban and Ramadan).

Whatever (worship) you do, (whether) 100 or 700 times, every practice will be rewarded. With this your life will have barakah (blessing) in it, too!

And by Allah’s permission you won’t be dependent on others.

May Allah give us strong faith, real faith. The rest is not important.

Wa min Allāhi t-tawfīq,
