Below is a short list of films and TV series we recommend. The Message heads the list, of course, as it is a well-loved classic on the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. After that, no particular order is followed. All are great.

In Dervish Nation Resources, we intend to provide multilingual references for good films, videos, books and hard-to-find items.

The Message is an epic 2.5-hour film on the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, 

Producer Moustapha Akkad filmed an Arabic and an English version, with 2 casts. In English, Anthony Quinn plays Hamza.

Resurrection: Ertugrul is a Turkish historical fiction series about how Ertugrul Ghazi paved the way to the founding of the Ottoman empire by his son, Osman. All 5 seasons are here.

Payitaht Abdul Hamid is a docudrama about the reign of the 34th Ottoman Sultan, Abdul Hamid II. All 4 seasons here.

Yunus Emre is the life story and spiritual quest of a famous Sufi and poet who lived at the time of the Mongol invasions.

Both seasons are on Netflix and YouTube.

The Farouk Omar series shows how Prophet Muhammad ﷺ trained ordinary people in such a way that they conquered half of the world within a decade while maintaining a high degree of morals, characters, justice and ideal administration. Watch on Vimeo.

Imam Ibn Hanbal - This extraordinary series follows the life of Imam Hanbal under Harun al-Rashid, Caliph of Baghdad.

In Arabic, produced in Qatar. Episodes with English subtitles re being added once a week.

The Kazakh Khanate - The Diamond Sword, set in the 15th century, depicts key events in formation of Kazakh statehood under the leadership of Khans Zhanibek and Kerey.

TheJourney with the Birds is a new Turkish series with English subtitles based on the works of Feriduddin Attar.
